IndexedDB administration for the browser
Design, inspect and manage IndexedDB databases with a visual workflow inspired by familiar database administration tools.
Chrome DevTools extension in review. Browser API in development.
IndexedDB Admin
IndexedExt brings schemas, object stores, indexes, compound keys, records and graph views into one focused DevTools panel.
Browse databases, stores, indexes and records in the origin currently inspected by DevTools.
Prepare Schemes before creating a physical database, including compound and external keys.
Import and export structures and data with explicit, reviewable workflows.
Planned browser library
The proposed indexedExt.js library will receive an IndexedExt Scheme, create the database in the consuming website and keep its description in a reserved indexedext store.
Its first target is intentionally modest: visual preferences and small configuration collections, not remote storage or large analytical workloads.
const db = await IndexedExt.open(scheme);
await db.put("viewPreferences", {
userIdentifier: "user-demo",
contextType: "channel",
contextIdentifier: "news",
alignment: "right",
updatedAt: Date.now()
});
const preference = await db.read(
"viewPreferences",
["user-demo", "channel", "news"]
);
Privacy by architecture
IndexedExt.com will distribute documentation and JavaScript files. It will not receive the records stored by the library.
When a website such as tekasus.com loads the library, IndexedDB operations execute under that website's own browser origin. No telemetry, record synchronization or automatic Scheme uploads are planned.
